Urban sketching workshop

In the Urban sketching team workshop, you will draw beautiful scenes of the city of Amsterdam in a loose, sketchy way. We sketch in black and white and color, with pencil, colored pencil, fineliner and watercolor.

Amsterdam has many beautiful places and fun subjects to draw, such as canals and canal houses, boats, people, terraces, city life and so on. In a 5-minute walk from Station West you can find beautiful scenes in the Jordaan, Prinseneiland, Haarlemmerbuurt, Brouwersgracht, Lindengracht, Westerdok and more!

The loose style of drawing ensures that every drawing is personal: personal in lines and colors, but also in what you do and do not draw and in how much it resembles reality.

We can offer this workshop in various forms, depending on your wishes, the number of people and the weather conditions:

Indoor, table layout, 6-10 people

We will provide a U-shaped table layout around a large projection of a beautiful Amsterdam scene of your choice. Coffee, tea or possibly drinks or something with coffee can be served on the table where you are drawing.

Indoor, chair layout, 11-20 people

We will provide a theater layout with chairs and drawing boards for on your lap, around a large projection of a beautiful Amsterdam scene of your choice. Coffee, tea or drinks will be served at other tables during one or two breaks.

Outside, street furniture, 6-14 people

We will start inside with an introduction, coffee and tea and then walk to a nice spot in the immediate vicinity (5 minutes walk) to draw a beautiful Amsterdam scene live. The spot will be determined depending on the number of people and the available seats. We can then end the session inside with a drink.
NB. This form will take place inside or partly inside if the weather conditions do not allow drawing outside (rain, strong wind, cold or heat).

You do not have to be able to draw: the workshop host will explain step by step how to make an urban sketch and how to work with techniques.

Characteristics of this workshop
